Latest update:
From May 28th, Windows 10 build version 2004 (The first major update in this year) has become officially available to users via WSUS, Windows Update for Business, Media creation tool, Update assistant etc….
If you have enrolled with Windows Insider Program previously, you can start installing the updates already and preview the features.
If you’re new, click HERE to become a Windows Insider!
Upon successful registration follow the below steps to configure your PC to get the latest updates.
Firstly, you might need to turn on Diagnostics and Feedback option set to Full. And then follow the below,
Click Settings > Update and Security > Windows Inside Programme > Get Started > Link an Account > Supply the credentials that you used to register for the program > Choose the settings > Confirm > Reboot
You can turn off the option from Windows Inside Programme later if you want to Opt-Out.
If you’re an IT Administrator, you can start deploying the latest updates to Pilot users via WSUS. If you’re a home user, you may not see the latest update in Windows Update immediately but you will be able to download and install in next couple of days.
This major update consists of;
1. Configuration and deployment
Optimization enhancements –
Now you can use Power-Shell commands to check the network usage in real time (E.g Log Analysis, Traffic Monitoring and Optimization)
Advanced options to adjust the bandwidth to manage windows update installation according to your connectivity.
Deployment enhancements –
Downtime reduced to 16 minutes during feature update installation with one time reboot.
Enabled to search, download and install Dynamic Updates (Except the latest updates)
Restore from Cloud – Just like we do restoration from cloud in common applications such as iCloud, Whatsapp its now enabled to restore your important configurations and files from cloud when you initiate Reset this PC.

Improved validation process
2. Cortana
Better access through new Chat GUI.
Added security
Can place the Cortana window anywhere in the desktop
3. Ease of access
4. Multi-language/ multi-locale support
5. Windows Subsystem for Linux
6. Windows built-in security
Application Guard – Application Guard is supporting Microsoft Edge on Chromium.
FIDO2 – Now supports Hybrid Azure AD joined devices
System Guard – Increased security
7. Windows Hello
Windows Hello PIN option has been enabled while on Safe Mode
8. Windows Sandbox
Added features for media support and easy access
9. Additional improvements
Feature enhancements for Bluetooth pairing, Calculator, Kaomoji, MSIX installation, Network cameras to Windows 10 devices, Redesigned Network status page, Notepad, Notification settings , Restarting apps at sign-in, Settings page > Optional Features, Specialized displays, Task Manager, Virtual desktop renaming and Windows Search.
Conclusion
Update 2004 is just rolled out to end users with many added features but there are still issues with downloading, installing and configuring. So if you’re not in hurry to deploy the updates to your environment, stay calm until the updates are stable and compliant to your services.
